

Harold Carl Darby, 84 Retired Sergeant First Class, of Palm Bay was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Dec 6th 2014. Born on July 10, 1930 in Chester, PA, he spent his childhood years in quaint Galestown, MD. As a young man he join the Army and was able to travel the world. His astute perception made him a natural leader and motivator, and his Army career spanned from explosive expert, OCS instructor, Nuclear technology instructor, tank instructor and a ROTC instructor at St. Peter’s College in N.J. While on tour in Germany he met and married Elizabeth Darby and they spent 46 years together.
In 1971 he moved his family to Port Malabar in Palm Bay, FL. While working for Jim Rathmann Chevrolet, he attended college and received a degree in Business Science. Subsequently opening his own business, “Battery King” on Aurora Road until his retirement.
A compassionate and giving man, his love for others was only overshadowed by his love of the Lord. Harold was a long time Member of the Moose Lodge. As a prolific reader, his knowledge of a vast number of topics, partnered with warm personality he was able to make anyone feel comfortable.
To heaven he was proceed by his wife Elizabeth, son Michael Paul, sisters Margret, Hilda, Wanda, Eileen and brother Thomas. Those anticipating reconciliation are his beloved sister Emma Lee Cooper, his children, Jacqueline, Siegen and Brian, including family members Karla, Brandyn, Melina, Renee, and Noah, along with a vast number of nieces, nephews and friends.
