Harriet Elizabeth Medas passed away September 23, 2026, in Melbourne, FL at the age of 75. Born in Baltimore, MD on April 11, 1951, she was raised in Chicopee, MA. Harriet was a 1969 graduate of Chicopee High School then received her initial nursing degree from Western Massachusetts School of Nursing. She regularly advanced her nursing skills when living in California. She was a cardiac surgical floor nurse for over 40 years, practicing in Massachusetts, California and Florida.
Harriet’s favorite places were Hawaii, Disney and soaking up the sun on a cruise ship. She anticipated the arrival of family and friends’ babies by creating their first blankets and sweaters. One of her greatest joys was planning visits to tourist attractions-especially the Disney Complex, when her friends, nieces, nephews, and step grands came to town.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Stella Rojewski Bizon, Charles Geller and Stepmother Bertha Geller. She lost her sister Beverly Vanderhoof during Covid, her brother-in-law Richard Vanderhoof a few months ago, and previously her nephew Michael Vanderhoof and first husband Ray Gadreault.
She is survived by her brothers Francis Bizon (Patricia Lawyer) and Walter (Jo Ann) Bizon: step-daughter Laurie (Mark) Anderson of Concord, NH; her nieces Jennifer Vanderhoof Bolte, Amanda (Kevin) Bovat, Danielle (Kevin) Dostie and nephews Charlie, Tom and Joe Bizon. Harriet has many grand nieces, nephews and step grandchildren including the youngest, Eli Ayotte in Vermont. Videos of his antics sent by Mom Laura, made her laugh and raised her spirits often during her last few months. Heidi's, a grand niece in Georgia, calls filled her with pride as she followed her progress, culminating in a masters degree shortly before Harriet's passing.
Harriet will be brought home to rest near her mom in Chicopee, MA.
