It is with great sadness that the family of Ms. Iona Williams Minto (née Clarke) announced her passing on Sunday, April 9th at the age of 69.
Iona was born in the quaint village of Success, in the parish of Hanover, Jamaica to Roland and Nomel Clarke. She was the eldest of 8 siblings, 3 of whom predeceased her along with her parents.
Iona was a “woman on mission,” a mission to live life to its fullest and to leave a little bit of herself along the way. She loved her family and whatever or wherever the event she was there. She doted on her grandchildren and was a mentor as well as a source of hope and inspiration for her daughters Lisa and Darnell.
Iona was our family’s “Martha Stewart” always looking for a new and more challenging business venture. She showed us what it meant to hold steadfast your dreams and aspirations.
Iona was an avid traveller whose globetrotting ways took her across the world. There was always another adventure or another journey to add to her to memory bucket. She remained committed to her faith and the desire to spread the word through her ongoing outreach.
She is survived by daughters: Lisa Marie Jean Pierre and Darnell Minto, grandchildren: Jelani Biggs, Gregory and Gabrielle Celestine, brothers: Edward, Hamlet and Freddie, sister: Angela Brunson along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
