Irene Mina Batby, 81, passed away on May 26, 2020 in Palm Bay, Florida. She was the wife of Henry Batby. They shared 54 wonderful years of marriage together. They had met through a friend at an ice-cream shop in Germany while Henry was stationed there; it truly was love at first sight. His “Ireney- Beanie” meant the world to him; he feels like he could not have been blessed with a better wife.
Born in Germany on April 5, 1939, Irene was the daughter of Wilhelm and Mina Pfhaler. Her childhood was a scary one having grown up in Germany during WWII. But she survived it coming out amazingly strong-minded and strong-willed.
Once Irene married Henry, she became a devoted housewife. Her family meant the world to her. She had a passion to nurture and care for them. Providing for them what she did not have while growing up, a secure safe home and plentiful food, was what she lived for. She never wanted any of them to feel unsafe or hungry. Seeing the appreciation and love on their faces always brought overwhelming joy to hers.
Cooking and baking were two of Irene’s favorite things to do. No matter what she made, it always came out delicious. When not in the kitchen, she would focus her attention on politics. Being in the “know” made her feel powerful. And it was no secret that she was a strong Trump supporter- he was her idol in the political world.
Her gentle, kind, and caring demeanor will be missed by all of those who knew her. Her infectious laugh and huge smile will not be easily forgotten.
Irene is survived by her loving husband, Henry; her son, David (Sharla); her two grandsons, Matthew and Jason; and her longtime childhood friend, Helga. She was predeceased by her parents.
A private memorial service is being held to honor Irene’s life.
