

James (Jim) was born on 21 July 1931 in the town of Crestview located in Okaloosa County, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents Ruby Frazier and Minnie Lee Atwell and his brother Alex Frazier Atwell.
Jim passed away peacefully in his sleep at home alongside family members on 14 November 2023 at the age of 92.
Jim served his country faithfully for 21 years, both in the U.S Navy and U.S Air Force with assignments Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, and Europe to include a combat tour in Vietnam from 1968 -1969. Jim retired from active duty at Homestead Air Force Base Florida 1971.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Edith Atwell, his (4) children David and Clinton (Karen) Atwell, Cindy Noe and Monte Atwell, his 96) grandchildren Robert Atwell, Joshua Penn, Adrianne Penn, Scott Atwell, Heather Noe, Dounia Bezzari, and (3) great grandchildren, his sisters Glenda Ellen Fisher and Ruby Eloise Simmons.
Jim will be remembered for his passion for surf fishing at Sebastian Inlet and on Lake Garcia. He also enjoyed fish fries with family and friends, vacation cruises, boating, watching the Miami Dolphins and Florida Gators play on TV. He was a problem solver who often took on difficult and unwanted projects around the house and for fellow neighbors in need. He attended the Baptist Church of Bayfoot Bay and will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
Jim will be laid to rest at Fountainhead Memorial Park in Palm Bay, Florida with full military honors.
A visitation and service for James will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909. Following by a committal service at 3:00 PM at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909.
