On November 7, shortly before midnight, Jeanette Grace Bradley threw her leg braces away, gave the world a kiss and danced into eternity. She left with a smile on her face and a song in her heart, finally free of all the pain she was suffering during her life as a result of cerebral palsy. At her request, there will be no services at this time. A memorial service will be held in the spring, her favorite time of year.
As director of the Downstagers, a (mostly) octogenarian acting group, she arranged skits aimed at senior citizens and performed at retirement homes in the local area.
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut on July 1, 1937, she refused to let her disabilities rule her life. She graduated from college, held responsible jobs and always had a smile for everyone. She was president of the Waterbury Chorale and sang with a beautiful soprano voice.
Married late in life to Richard Bradley at the age of 50, she enjoyed traveling to many places. From Maine to Montana, and down to Kentucky and eventually to Florida where they made their final home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
