Joan C. Faughnan, 81, of Melbourne died peacefully at a local assisted living facility surrounded by her family. A native of New York City, New York she came to Florida in 1986 and to Brevard County in 2011 from Hobe Sound, FL. During the time she was making her home in Astoria, New York, she met her husband Francis (Frank) John Faughnan and they were married in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church there in Astoria in 1960. Joan and Frank resided at Eagle Wood Golf Club in Hobe Sound and loved to travel. Frank went before Joan to be with the Lord in 2009. She had been a member of St Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound and had always loved to golf, play tennis and bridge.
Joan is survived by her daughter: Jeanne (Tony) Cook of Cocoa Beach; sons: Andrew J. of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Paul F. (Marie) of County Clare, Ireland; grandchildren: Jack, Thomas, and Conor and many extended family and friends who will all miss her.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday (6/17) at 11:00 AM in the Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne. For friends who wish the family suggests memorial donations to the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation, 4676 North Wickham Road, Melbourne, FL 32935 or Vitas Hospice, 4450 West Eau Gallie Blvd., Suite 250, Melbourne, FL 32934 in lieu of flowers.
