The Senzamici’s were our next door neighbors growing up. Our little street in Patchogue was a close street.Everyone new everybody and all were friendly. Joan was no different. As long as I could remember she was always home and was always outside to say hello and talk with. As I got older, we used to go to Davis Park in Fire Island with my parents on the boat and Joan and Fred were always there too. We used to dock right next to them. Actually one year Richie and I spent a week on the boat right next to them. The four of us vacationed together on our separate boats. We had fun talking, and drinking, and hanging out. It was fun. We really got to know each other as adults. She was a great lady. She will be missed. May she Rest In Peace. I’m so sorry for your loss. 

We lived next door to her n Fred. Patchogue for over 25 yrs. We all went to Fire Island on weekends. Had lots of good times. Joan was always home. If I needed help when my kids were hurt she came to my rescue. We both moved to Florida about the same time. They moved east coast we moved west coast. We kept in touch n visited them a few times.
We will miss Joan n keep her in our heart always. Our love n prayers are with all the family.

Aunt Joan always made us feel so special with her warm smile and hugs. She was such a kind, caring, special lady and will never be forgotten.

Aunt Joan was our mom’s baby sister.  Our Mom- Muriel, known affectionately as Moo, was 14 years older than Joan.  When our parents were first married, they lived briefly with our grandmother, Anna, and an adolescent Joan as well.  One evening, when Joan did not arrive at her proposed curfew from her friends house, our grandmother asked our dad to  bring Joan home.  If you knew anything about our dad, he adored his mother in law, and was eager to assist in bringing Joan home.  He arrived at the house and told Joan, “you need to come home”. If you knew Joan, let’s just say she certainly was not about to listen to her new brother in law.  She adamantly refused to leave her friends. Determined to prove worthy to his mother in law, he then proceeded to throw Joan over his shoulder and carried her home, kicking and screaming the whole way.  Though humiliated, Joan was devising her retaliation.  That night while dad began to brush his teeth, he started to gag while a soap soaked toothbrush bubbled in his mouth, and Joan slept innocently in her bed. He never could figure out when she did it, and years later when recanted the story, Joan laughed heartily. One of my favorite stories, one our dad loved sharing about  her.  We love you Aunt Joan, and will miss you.
