With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Joanne Louise (Holthaus) Mannes, of Melbourne Beach, Florida, who died on May 10, 2025, at the age of 84. Joanne will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her beloved husband, Hubert Mannes, married 58 years; her sister, Rita Holthaus; sister-in-law, Mary Holthaus; sister-in-law Marcia Holthaus, sister and brother-in-law Anna and Joe Petrovas, and her Godson David Holthaus. She is survived by her cherished children: Mollie and Christopher Pukki, as well as Andrew (Andy) and Jessica Mannes. Joanne's legacy extends to her grandchildren: Andrew (Drew) Mannes, Lauren Joanne Pukki, Christopher Hubert Pukki, Zackery Mannes, and Nathan Mannes, who will carry her love and spirit with them always. She cherished her time spent with her grandchildren, her heart overflowing with pride and affection for each one. These moments, filled with laughter and shared experiences, will forever be treasured as well as her love for Christmas and family gatherings.
Joanne was born in Monroeville, Indiana on June 17,1940 to Aloysius and Orah Holthaus. Joanne was one of seven children with siblings Leonard, Robert, Roy, Jean, Rita, and James her twin brother.
Joanne loved reading, music, watching a good movie or program with her husband Hubert, spending time playing games with her grandchildren or watching their many sporting events. Joanne was a dedicated enthusiast of a clean house both inside and out. She loved playing cards with her friends at bridge group and reading a good book with her best girl, Bling.
She found out later in life you could teach an old dog new tricks by learning to play games on the computer and scroll through Facebook. Never wanting her own Facebook account, she would often comment on family and friends photos looking as though Hubert was posting “how precious” and “how lovely” things were. It was always a good laugh.
Her love of music will forever be in our memories; loving to retell her fond memory of Andy graduating kindergarten and the song “Greatest Love of All playing,” always crying happy tears and during Christmas would love to play different versions of “Oh Holy Night.” Requested songs to be played after she passed were, “My Sweet Lord, What a Wonderful World, and Amazing Grace.”
Joanne Louise Mannes was a devoted Catholic who would stop and help the less fortunate, often causing hubert to turn around or backup to help the less fortunate. Her heart and soul will be cherished and missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joanne's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
