

John Henry Currie Sr. 77, was born in Brownsville, TN on March 17, 1945. He passed away peacefully on March 4, 2023 at Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne, FL surrounded by his family and loved ones.
John met Elaine McKoy in Brooklyn, NY in 1970. They married on February 23, 1972 in Brooklyn, NY. They had a total of 4 children 2 of whom survived to adulthood. They celebrated 51 years of love and companionship.
John is survived by his wife Elaine(McKoy)Currie, 2 Children Michelle Katherine Loving (Barbara) and John Henry Currie Jr. (Sarah), 2 adopted children Eric and Rhonda, 5 Grandchildren, Melania, Meilene, Destiny,Katrina, and Brooke, 2 Step-Grandchildren Jackie Loving and Pameline Loving, 7 Great-Grandchildren Alaysia, Trinity, Ja'Kari, Janice, Noah, Tahj, and Kaiden. 4 sister in laws (Alice Gordon, Merlene McKoy, Joan Gentle, and Annette Anderson), 1 brother in law (Rudolph McKoy), a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, whom he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his parents Sam Ethel Shaw and Johnnie Thompson, his sister Katherine Thompson, and brother Julius Thompson, and brother in laws Joseph Gordon, David McKoy and Lincoln McKoy. 1 sister in law Athalie Williams. As well as many adopted children and grandchildren.
John was a simple man. He loved playing scrabble with his brother in law, Joe Gordon. He loved watching the news and football. He joined the Marines in 1963 at the age of 18. He left Michigan and moved to NY to be closer to his mother. After the birth of his children, he decided to go back to school. He received a BA in Social Work and worked with the NY foster care system until 2005. That reflected on his love of people and children. John and Elaine fostered over 25 children who they loved. John moved to Florida in 2005 and retired. He is remembered as a loving, gentle man who loves his family and others.
A visitation for John will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM.
