

He was born May 24, 1925 in Belvidere, Illinois, the son of Francis and Eleanor C. (Mundy) McElroy. When John left Belvidere, he was working for Ipsen Industries. He and his wife, Audrey moved from Belvidere, Illinois to Florida in 1974.
Before he retired in Florida, he worked for Barefoot Bay at the Golf Course and also with the management office. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Audrey; daughter, Jill (Ron) Brooke; brother, Frank McElroy; brother-in-law, Donald Fowler; sisters-in-law, Sally McElroy and Virginia Seno; and nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Johnny McElroy; brothers, Robert "Pooch" McElroy and Vern McElroy; sister, Daisy Fowler; sisters-in-law, Mardel McElroy, Thelma McElroy, Delores Peterson; brothers-in-law, Fran Peterson and Rick Burton; parents, Francis and Eleanor McElroy; mother-in-law, Alice Burton; and father-in-law, Dale Burton.
John was a very dedicated and loving husband and father, and he will be deeply missed by his wife, family and friends.
We would like to acknowledge and thank all of the staff at the Palm Bay Community Hospital, Health First Hospice, and the Life Care Center of Palm Bay for the wonderful care and compassion they gave to John and his family, and would like to thank all of our families and friends for all of their prayers and support.
A memorial to John will be held at a later date.
