Being at Kathy’s Celebration of Life meant so much to me. To be in Florida where her new life had been for several years was nice to see, I loved being at her home for a little while. Especially since she and Ron had opened their home to me and my kids several times while in RI. I will miss my friend of 50 plus years but I find comfort that she now rest in peace - no more illness, only peace. My thoughts are with the boys, Richie, Ronnie and Randy and their families and her husband Ron who took such good care of  his love - as they grieve the loss of their mother and wife. The grandkids as well, Kathy loved her grandkids very much, always mentioned them when we had our many  phone conversations . Rest in peace Kathy, we’ll be together again someday.  Linda and family - we miss you.

I miss my long talks on the phone and the times when we went out with Ron and Kathy for meals. She was a special lady.and not a day goes by that I don’t think of her. Always hear her voice at the end of our conversations “ We’ll see you later Lady Jane”  Yes we will Kathy . Rest in peace .  Connie and Chuck

Kathleen Mellow Mendonsa, born September 11th, 1951 and passed away peacefully in Palm Bay, Fl on December 27th, 2025. Kathleen was born to Viola and Joseph Mellow of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Kathleen grew up on the family farm, which was highly regarded for their veggies and flowers that they sold.   She attended Portsmouth High School.  Kathleen had sought to go to college to become a nurse, but when her mom became sick.  Kathleen chose to stay and take care of her mother.  
     Kathleen married Ronald Mendonsa, September 11th, 1975 on her birthday. They were married for 50 years and 3 months.  Kathleen was Portuguese, and had a “small” stubborn streak, which helped her immensely to raise their 3 boys.

Richie Mendonsa of Portsmouth, Rhode Island 
Ronnie Mendonsa (and wife Jenn) of Palm Bay, Florida 
Randy Mendonsa (and Shannon) of Palm Bay, Florida
Her 4 Grandchildren: 
Jordan Mendonsa, Avery, Mendonsa, Logan Mendonsa, and the late Tyler Mendonsa.  
One Great Grandchild:  Rosemary
Kathy had 7 siblings:
David, of Arizona, Ray, of Sebastian, Fl, Arthur, of Rhode Island, and  Henry, in Rhode Island.  
Deceased siblings include her sister Dorothy, and 2 brothers Joseph and Richard, 
Kathy worked in Middletown, Rhode Island as a Special Needs Educator and advocate for Special Needs children.  This was her passion to help children, who needed an advocate.  
Kathleen moved to Palm Bay, Florida, with Ronnie in 2010.  Not being one to just retire, Kathy worked with Nightengale Senior Care services for years, where she would take care of elderly people who wanted to stay in their homes.  Again, Kathleen had such a big heart to love and take care of people.  She eventually retired and took on caring for Ronnie while he continued to work.  She started her little chicken farm and enjoyed taking care of them and her dogs.  
Kathleen loved her family, and will be missed  by all!

I am so sorry for your loss of Aunt Kathy. I have lots of happy memories of her. I will miss my talks with her.  She will always be in my heart.
