Kenneth D. Myers, 89, of Palm Bay, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014, at home. Born on June 12, 1925, in Groton, CT he was a son of the late Clifford A. and Ethel May Myers. He proudly served his country for over 22 years. First in the U.S. Navy and then in the U.S. Army. While in the Navy he was a member of the crew on the USS Lake Champlain in 1945 that set a world record for the fastest recorded crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. He was a combat veteran of WWII and was an expert marksman. Ken received several medals and commendations including the Purple Heart. His civilian occupation was Security with Harris Government Systems.
Ken was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sonja Myers. His children: Joseph and Debbie Myers, of Maryville, TN, Donald and Marion Myers of Valkaria, FL, and John and Amanda Myers of Palm Bay, FL. as well as his grandchildren: Kurt, Madison, Alayna, and Ian.
The family is hosting a viewing on Friday, January 2nd at 9am with the funeral service immediately following at 10am. It will take place at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock St. Palm Bay, FL.
