Leyton Bernardo Mowatt, the son of Ezekiel & Violet Mowatt, was born on September 1, 1929 in Morant Bay, St. Thomas, Jamaica. He attended Morant Bay Primary School and later attended trade school, where he studied motor mechanics.
Leyton enjoyed tailoring and cooking. He worked for the bus company in Jamaica and England. After migrating to England with his wife Luna, they settled in London where their children from Jamaica joined them with their other siblings.
After living in London for 15 years, Leyton migrated to the United States, settling in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He worked for Chestnut Hill Bus Company and later transferred to Greater Bridgeport Transit. He was known for being a hard worker and a good provider. Upon his retirement, Leyton settled in Palm Bay, Florida, where he enjoyed his retirement and attended the Palm Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church.
On August 13, 2019, Leyton fell asleep in the Lord. Left to cherish Leyton’s memories are his loving wife Luna of 62 years; his seven children Carol, Barbara, Audrey, Derrick, Calvin, Noel, and Anthony; his brother Rupert Mowatt; his sisters Bernice Clarke, Beuhla Webley, and Una Bulawere; several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Leyton was preceded in death by his grandson Maurice Kelly Jr, sister Icyline Crooks, granddaughter Christine Hyatt.
Brother Mowatt, lovingly known by many as Uncle Pal, was loved by everyone who knew him. His smile and welcoming chuckle will be remembered by all who loved him.
