Lois A. Rader, 88, of Melbourne, FL, died at her home Sunday (5/19). Born in Akron, Ohio, the family moved to Melbourne in 1961 from Charleston, West Virginia. She had worked for Harris Corp as a technician and was confirmed in the Presbyterian church. An avid Quilter, she was an active member of the Seaside Piecemakers and passed her knowledge, enthusiasm and love for quilting on to her “cherished” friends.
She also enjoyed traveling and bird watching. The WVa mountains called to her for spring and fall visits. The wetlands of Viera became a favorite spot for bird watching. Lois had a love of gardening, she maintained flowers and fruit trees around her home; flowers for beauty, fruit for jams. She also was very happy when given the opportunity to cook for family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. and daughter, Sharon Lee. Survivors include her son: Robert "Bob" W. of Melbourne; daughter: Marcia L. of Miami; four grandchildren: Deanna Piros, Sean, Mark, and Jay; and three great-grandchildren: Alison, Brendan, and Trace.
Funeral services will be Friday (5/24) at 2:00 PM in the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 810 W Florida Ave, Melbourne. There will be a gathering with refreshments after the service in the Good Samaritan’s fellowship hall.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home Thursday from 7 until 9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Seaside Piecemakers for their Community Service projects, her passion. Seaside Piecemakers Quilt Club, P.O. Box 372761, Satellite Beach, FL 32937-2761; www.seasidepiecemakers.com
