

Louis (Bud) Schaub was raised in Haddonfield, New Jersey, and attended Rutgers University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1956. He was an accomplished athlete in high school and college, and is in the Haddonfield High School athletic hall of fame for track, baseball, and football. He attended Rutgers University on athletic and ROTC scholarships, and entered the U.S. Air Force after graduation. He spent a decade serving in various parts of the United States and the world, of which his favorite was Japan. His military career ended in Vietnam as a pilot of the C-123 Provider. Disabling injuries from an accident during the war led him to a hospital room with a Navy officer whose visiting sister fell in love at first sight. Bud was married to Carol Anne Towne in 1970, and they moved to Palm Bay, Florida, where they lived for almost fifty years, until her death in 2019.
Bud lived a miraculous life filled with adventure, joy, humor, family, athleticism and positivity. Bud is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carol, and his sister Florence Callahan. He is survived by his daughter Melissa and her husband Roger Ladd, son Louis James (Buddy) Schaub and his wife Edie, grandsons Frank and David Ladd, and many nieces and nephews.
A Committal and Military Honors will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 1422 Miller Street NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905, US, on July 17, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
