

Margie Viola Welsh (93 years old) of the Fountains of Melbourne, Florida went to be with her Savior on August 25, 2026. She was born on September 30, 1930, to parents George and Viola Draves of Highland, Wisconsin where she was joined by two half-sisters and a half-brother. She spent the first 18 years of her life on the farm which she loved to tell many stories of her farm life. After high school, she attended six months of business college and then worked for Farm Burew Insurance in Madison, Wisconsin.
June 27, 1953, Margie married Richard Welshl, also from Highland, Wisconsin. They followed Richard’s career as an aeronautic, engineer with McDonald Douglas (Boing) which took them to St. Louis, MO; Lancaster, CA; Cape Canaveral, FL; Houston, Tx; and retired back to Melbourne, FL.
Margie loved people and was a joy to everyone who met her. Margie devoted her life caring for children, elderly friends and worked many years in restaurants; including 15 years at Red Lobster as a lead waitress, part-time work in an Alpine German Restaurant and an English Tea Room in Houston, Tx. She also worked for Space Center Houston in customer service. She worked for 10 years for Covenant Presbyterian Church in Palm Bay, Florida in the Nursery department
Margie’s passions were baking and cooking and trying new recipes.
Family was so important to Margie. She was a loving daughter, sister, cousin, wife mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She is survived by five children Kaye Whitson; Kim (Gina) Welsh; Kristi (Paul) Jensen; Kara DeGunna; Kendal (Kathy) Welsh; 12 grandchildren Jennifer (Tyler) Parkerson, Philp (Marja) Welslh; Julie Roslin, Karlee (Shelby) Bridges; Garrett (Khristen) Whitson, Tiffani (Douglas) Schwenn; Nicole (Josh) Ripp; Tiereny (Luke) Anderson, Josha (Sara) DeGunna; Chandler Welsh, Carter Welsh; Cooper Welsh. 18 Great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother James (Sandra) Draves, and her sisters Vivan Forbes and Marie (Richard) Roberts, sister-in-law Shirley Draves; sister in-law Ruth (Arnold) Beckus; sister-in-law Maryln Welsh. As well as many nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Welsh; parents, George and Viola Draves, sister Geneva (Johnnie) Machotka, sister Eunice (Darrell) Nankey; brother John Draves; brothers-in-law Clark Forbes; Wilbur, Walter, Stanly, Glen (Eileen), Keith (Betty); Earl (Donna) And sister-in-law Kathleen Paxton (Harold Shaw /Richard Paxton).
Margie definitely left footprints on the hearts of everyone who knew her
A Memorial will be held at Calvary Chapel of Melbourne September 8th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers a donation may be make to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
