Maria Leclair, age 90, entered Heaven’s gates on May 22, 2020. She was born on March 13, 1930 in Penzberg, Germany. She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Edward Leclair of 62 years and her parents, Regina and Peter Breitenweiser. Maria moved to Brevard County in 1967 and was a resident of Port Malabar.
Words cannot express what a beautiful person Maria was. She devoted most of her time and energy to her family with whom she was happiest. Together they enjoyed traveling and cruising. Maria enjoyed working in the hospitality industry, working at Port Malabar Country Club and Nick’s Steakhouse. Maria was a skilled cook, making delicious meals from her German heritage.
Maria was the mom of all moms. She had a special way of keeping the family connected. Her children she cherished with all her heart and they hers. She was their best friend, their rock, and their confidant. Her memories and a part of her will live forever in their hearts. Maria was quick-witted, feisty, determined, and generous; and through her children and grandchildren, these traits will live for many generations to come. She will be missed but in no way will she ever be forgotten. She truly lived life at her own terms.
We are all given the gift of life, and one day we all will have to give it back. It is a hard thing to say goodbye to your mom once, let alone twice. It feels like we lost our mom a few years ago when this disease made her relinquish all of her beautiful memories and the mom we once knew. Now we have said our final goodbye and even though, metaphorically speaking, we will meet again, joyfully, on the other side.
Maria is survived by her children, William P. Leclair, Doris M. Boroff, and Lorraine R. Blake; and six grandchildren.
Maria will lay to rest next to her husband Joseph E. Leclair at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
