She graduated from Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina with a degree in Fine Arts. While at Columbia, she found her passion for theater. After college she lived for several years in New York City and played the role of Snow White in off Broadway productions. Her love for the fine arts remained with her throughout her life.
She married Arthur F. Evans, Jr., of Waynesboro, Georgia, in Hartsville, South Carolina on October 15, 1949. For 59 years their Christ-centered love story served as a role model for all that knew them. Their heart for Jesus touched countless lives.

Mary Lou’s greatest love was Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior; her family; and her friends. Everything in her beautiful life reflected that Christlike love. She was active in her community, faithful in service to Jesus Christ and His church, and always putting others before herself. Her greatest desire was to use her gifts to spread the gospel and honor Jesus. Those that knew her were truly blessed by this woman of God.
A private celebration of life will be held in lieu of a service.
