Michael Dean Shank

Michael Dean Shank, 76, of West Melbourne, Florida, passed away on August 6, 2026. Born on January 28, 1950, in West Virginia, Michael lived life his own way—with a strong will, a good heart, and a stubborn streak that could give anybody a run for their money.

Mike proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a proud veteran, and his service and sacrifice will always be remembered and honored.

Mike loved the outdoors, spending time with friends, and heading down to the VFW where he was a past Commander, to enjoy a cold beer and share a few stories. He was the kind of man who didn’t need much to be happy—just some fresh air, good company, and a place to sit and tell it like it was.

And stubborn? Well, Mike was Mike. Once he had his mind made up, you might as well have gotten comfortable because you probably weren’t going to change it. That stubborn streak was just part of the man we loved, and someday, those are the things that will make us smile when we think of him.

Above all, Mike was a family man who leaves behind a lifetime of memories with the people who loved him. He will be missed for his stories, his laughter, his stubborn ways, and all the little things that made him uniquely Mike. Now, he can finally rest in peace.

A committal and military honors will be held at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock St SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909, on August 14, 2026, at 10:00 am.
