Monserrate M. Rivera

Monserrate M. Rivera, 86, of Melbourne passed peacefully at her home and with her family around her Sunday (7/21). A native of Aibonito, Puerto Rico she came to Melbourne in 1966 from Fort Devins, Mass. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had worked in the cafeteria at Gemini Elementary School prior to retirement. A loving and devoted mother she always enjoyed having her family around her and at family gatherings would share her memories of Puerto Rico.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jesus Rivera, Sr. and a daughter: Alka Rivera. Survivors include her daughters: Ivellin Vickers Prager of Melbourne, Alba Rivera of Brooklyn, NY, April Rivera of Melbourne; sons: Raymond Rivera of Palm Bay, Jesus Rivera, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Evelyn Vickers, James Vickers, Jr., Joy Rivera, Angela Rivera; great-grandchildren: Brittney Vickers, Justin Vickers, Brandon Vickers, Robert Musick, Joseph Merril, Destiny Maze; and one great-great-granddaughter: Delia Vickers.

Friends may call at the Fountainhead Funeral Chapel Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow in Fountainhead Memorial Park.
