

1944 to the late Elizabeth Ellis & Frank Simmons
in Brooklyn, New York. Norman departed this
earth on December 1, 2012 at home. Norman was
educated in the New York Public School System.
Norman relocated to Newark, New Jersey at an
early age.
Norman joined the United States Air Force
and retired October 1968.
While in the Air Force Norman received several medals of
commendations such as the Campaign Medal, Air
Force Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense
Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of
Vietnam and others.
Norman was joined in matrimony to Betty Minatee-
Wiggins in June 1995 in Newark, New Jersey.
They remained in Newark, New Jersey until they
moved to Florida in 2003. Norman was employed
by the University of Medicine and Dentistry for 26
years. While employed he was the Manager of the
Grounds Department. Norman retired in 2002.
Norman was Pastor of Good Faith House Of
Worship until his death.
For over 40 years Norman was a member of the
Elks, Pride of Newark Lodge #93 IBPOE of W and
served as Exhalted Ruler for 3 years.
Norman was the Chaplin at the American Legion
Post 191 in Melbourne, Fl.
During his spare time Norman loved to fish and
would do so until he got sick. He also worked as
a part-time Travel Agent with Charles Anthony
Travel.
Norman was preceded in death by two brothers,
Leslie and Samuel and two sisters, Daisy and Mary.
Norman leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Betty
Minatee-Wiggins, daughter, Tanisha Jenkins-Smith
(Tobias) Palm Bay, Fl., sister, Marjorie Talmadge,
Conyers, Ga., five sister-in-laws, Prophetess Clara
Costello, Albany, Ga., Mildred (James), McGill,
Sasser Ga., Bessie Warren, Hartford, Conn., Aldean
(Harvey) Lanier, Barbara Lynn (Charlie) Rouse,
Albany, Ga., six brother-in-laws, Walter (Sarah),
Spurlin Albany, Ga., Willie (Ann) Warren, Echo,
Ga., Elijah (Katrinka) Spurlin, Denver, Co., Larry
(Rosalyn) Spurlin, Joe (Virginia) Warren , and
Jake Warren of Dawson, Ga., three nephews, Cecil
(Jessie) Sanders, Bronx, NY, Andre Jr. and Jamyl
Springer, Conyers, Ga., four nieces, Angela Sanders,
Manhattan, NY, Erica Peak, Albany, Ga., Nicole T.
(Andre Sr.) Springer and Jasmin Springer, Conyers,
Ga. one grand nephew, Phillip (Ishale) Sanders and
one great-grandnephew, Marcus Sanders, Bronx,
NY, five grandchildren Steven Newkirk, Newark,
NJ, Melvin Williams, Tobias Smith, Palm Bay, Fl.,
Lauren Mercadel, Atlanta Ga. and Kelis Smith,
Palm Bay, Fl. Norman is also survived by three
adopted daughters, Delores Smith, Palm Bay, Fl.,
Lakisha Williams-Edwards and Jada Payne both of
Irvington, NJ and a host of other relatives and close
friends.
