He was born July 19, 1927 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin to Elsie and Ewald Unger. He started his career in the military in the Coast Guard and continued serving his country in the US Army and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer after 28 years.
In his later years he enjoyed gardening, growing orchids and raising his Great Danes. He was loved by his wife Diane of 61 years and his four children, Karen, Wendy, David and Susan. He was very proud to be a Grandfather to seven and Great Grandfather to five.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home (7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL, 32909) In lieu of flowers, donations to the Great Dane Love – A Central Florida Rescue, Inc. would be appreciated.
