Pauline Fredericka Salmon was born on July 1, 1927 in St. Andrew, Jamaica to Frederick Augustus Golden and Mazrine Aljoe-Golden. She was the third child in the family of three brothers (now deceased) and one sister. She attended St. George’s Girls’ Primary and Infant School and then completed high school.
She worked for a short period at Rose Leon Cosmetology Company in Kingston, Jamaica. Pauline first met Linton Salmon when one of her siblings who was his friend took him home. They became acquainted with each other and were married January 1, 1949. From this union seven sons and one daughter were born.
Pauline’s husband Linton and three sons Mark, Errol (widow Lorna), Linton Jr (widow-Carmen) preceded her in death.
In 1970, Pauline immigrated to the United States followed by the rest of her family in 1971. She worked as a CNA at the Congress Nursing Home in Brooklyn, New York from 1972 to 1989 when she retired.
In 1992, she accepted Jesus as her Savior then was baptized by Pastor Charles D. Brooks and became a member of the Seventh Day-Adventist Church, in Brooklyn, NY. In 1993, she moved to Palm Bay, Florida and attended the Palm Bay SDA Church where she was actively involved in various church ministries. Due to the Covid Pandemic, she was unable to attend church physically, but did take part in the church services online.
On September 19, 2023, she suffered a stroke, was hospitalized and died on September 20, 2023.
Pauline Leaves behind one sister, Carolyn “Bibi” Omphroy (New York), four sons and one daughter, Richard (Merline) - Georgia; Carey (Suzette) -Florida); Ansel (predeceased by Carlene) – Florida; Rudolph “Bill” (Deborah) – California; Patricia (Richard) - New York. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one nephew, eight nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Pauline will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 AM. Her committal service and entombment will take place at 12:30 PM at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, Florida.
