When tomorrow starts without Pete. And he is not there to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes, All filled with tears for Pete: I wish so much you wouldn't cry, The way you did today, While thinking of many things, We didn't get to say. I had the honor and privilege of serving in the Army with Pete in 1974-75 in Schwaebisch Gmuend as a MP.  Pete was not only the NCO in charge of our platoon, he was our confidant and father figure.  Pete taught and guided and inspired us to be confident and competent soldiers and  MPs,  and to be better persons. Pete and Wally opened their home to all of us for holiday gatherings and special occasions. They made us feel at home while we were all far from our hometowns. It was a pleasure to re-unite with Pete and Wally in 2019 and share fond memories of our great times in SG. Pete will be missed by all who knew him.  To Wally and family, I pray that friends will comfort you, faith will uphold you and loving memories will heal your hearts.

My first memory of Papa P was when I walked into that Orderly Room when he looked up at me and exclaimed "Oh my God ! They are sending me kids now !". I didn't laugh at the time.  We became best of friends, my dad,mentor -I modeled his great leadership to lead by example later in life. Pete and Wally created a special brotherhood and lifelong family for us all. We were all included in this special family. You both made sure that every holiday was spent together as a family.It still amazes me today that those 3 years I spent in Schwaeisch Gmund have created such tight lifetime bonds with this special group for such special times that will be forever remembered. 
Thanks Papa P for being there for my wife (Rockey) & myself. We were just kids overseas that fell in love which you made sure I didn't screw up, for what I didn't know at the time was my forever love.  You are the Best !  You will be greatly missed but not forgotten - The stories will be shared forever. Thanks for being  YOU !!  PAPA P  We Love YOU forever! 

I was a 19 year old fresh recruit when I met Peter Porche. Through my associations with his team, my future husband I became friends with Pete and Wally.  I was honored to have Pete walk me down the church isle for my wedding vows a year later. Pete was a good friend, a good man, an exceptional leader. His commitment to the Army, his team and his family was always a priority. 
Pete will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Peter was my first cousin. I remember him so handsome going into the Army. I also remember Wally and when little Peter was an infant. Aunt Alice was so proud of him. Sorry for his loss.

Peter effectively  lead a detachment of Military Police in Schwaebish Gmund as the senior resident NCO in an outlying area some 15 miles from Platoon HQ and over 70 miles from the  Company HQ often requiring independent management on a daily basis.  He was respected and loved by his men who remained in close touch with him to this day, over 45 years since they last served together.   Peter guided me while making my duty much easier and more meaningful.   It was great to see Peter and you in Florida recently for the surprise dinner reunion attended by many of his men.

Pete was our top security officer during my tenure as President of the Florida Institute of Technology.  He was the best security person I ever worked with.  The university will forever be grateful for his leadership.  I will be forever grateful for his diligence, hard work, and good humor. He is the epitome of the warrior and patriot of our time.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of my cousin and patriot Pete.  My father Fred Ead had a special bond with cousin Pete. Pete spoke about my dad many times and remembered him fondly.  I have fond memories of his visits with us in Waltham and the times we shared as I was growing up at Aunt Alice's and Uncle Everett's house in Somerville.  I has so lucky to have seen him and Wally at the Bannach family reunion a few years ago. My heart goes out to cousin Wally and all of his family.

I was stationed at Schwabisch Gmund with Pete and Wally. The sentiments of the soldiers above would be the opinion of any and all who served with and for SGT Porche. For some he was a big brother. For others, he was the kind uncle and some he acted like a father figure. He was the inspiration for one of the best squads of police officers I have ever worked with .  He showed me how to operate among other outstanding men in doing a difficult job with joy and efficiency. Pete and Wally really did create a family far from home. Love you Pete. You will be truly missed.

I also had the privilege of serving with Pete in Schwaebisch Gmuend in the mid seventies.  He was the boss for our detachment and had the responsibility to keep us in line when we weren’t actually on MP duty.  He was a great leader, firm when needed,  but caring and concerned for his troops.  He always knew how to handle things.  He knew when it was OK for boys to be boys.  I will forever be grateful  to have known him and for what he taught me.

I had the privilege of serving with Pete as an MP during the early 70's in Schwaebisch Gmuend, Germany.  Pete was our platoon sergeant and molded a bunch of youngsters into soldiers and police officers who turned out to be an extraordinary group of men and women.  But Pete was more than our mentor and teacher, he and Wally also made sure that we became a family.   Many of us were fortunate to travel to Florida a couple of years ago and spend some time with Pete and Wally and it was just like stepping back almost 50 years ago to a time that I will always cherish as one of the greatest experiences of my life.  God has welcomed a soldier home.  

Worked with SSgt Porche in Schwaebisch Gmuend.  Easily one of the best NOC's I worked with in my five years in the Army MP's. What a great boss he was.  Thank you.  Rest in Peace Peter. I'm sure you are busy now handling security at the Pearly Gates.


Pete was a great American.  He was an Outstanding Platoon Sergeant in Vietnam and knew how to take care of his soldiers.  He was a leader and my friend.  God Comfort Wally and family.

I knew Peter while assigned to Schwaebisch Gmuend 1974 - 1976.    He embodied the best of an Army NCO , and he went above and beyond to look after "his boys".  There's a bunch of us who will always remember him.  Rest in Peace, old friend, your duty is done.

Uncle Pete, I will always remember our trips to Florida and stops in to spend the day with you and Aunt Wally. I loved your stories and just listening to you. You had a kind and mischievous soul and will truly be missed. I know Grandma, Nana and Aunt Pat are all welcoming you home. Rest In Peace sir
