Rusty was a bike angel - he led by serving others and still kept a strong leadership presence. He was sensitive to cyclists of all levels - esp the less experienced. His wife was always 'on-call' as his roving SAG support when he rode. He touched many lives - ours personally when we were in a cycling accident and he escorted us home one morning. He will live on in our hearts and memories and I'm quite confident ours is one of many, many, stories. - John and Jerri Doctor

One of my favorite memories of Rusty is when he worked tirelessly and hard on washing and waxing one of Elite’s planes removing the black exhaust from under the belly. A few days later, a friend of mine was taking a flight with a commercial airline and saw one of Elite’s planes at a gate. He texted me a picture of the plane and wrote, “look how Elite’s plane shines. It’s sparkling.” I shared the text with Rusty and his smile was as big as the Grinch. It made all of the hard laborious work he put into making the plane shine...worth it! Rusty said, “ this made my day.”

I will miss Rusty’s smile!

I remember Rusty working with me at the Airport when we were with ASIG! He was a hard worker and also made you laugh even during the busiest times! He always took his job seriously and went above his skills to get the job done right! He will be missed and he was like a brother to me because he stood by me when things didn't go right for me! He was a person who didn't like bullies and would be there if someone was mean to you! Rusty I will never forget you and all the nice things you did for me! Till we meet again! Keep riding in Heaven!

I had the pleasure of working with Rusty at MLB. He was always incredibly supportive of me and always encouraged me to be better. It never feels good to lose someone who's had a positive impact on you like Rusty did for me, but reflecting on the positives far outweighs the hurt. Rest in Power, bud. You worked hard and earned it.

Rusty and I worked together for a few years at the airport. He was a hard worker and had passion about the job and life. He helped me so much when I came back and I appreciated his friendship.
I am so very sorry for your loss.
