Richard George DeVaux, 56, passed away on November 14, 2025, in the loving arms of his wife, Sheri (Brazalovich) DeVaux. Born with challenges that he met with grit and humor from the very beginning, Rich lived a life defined by resilience, generosity, and laughter. He had a gift for brightening any room whether with a story, an off-color joke, or his unforgettable laugh and he made it his mission to leave people smiling.
He remained forever young at heart. He cherished time spent with family, especially out fishing or hunting, and approached life with curiosity, playfulness, and deep devotion to the people he loved.
He proudly served as a member of the Tolland Fire Department in Connecticut for many years and spent two decades as a dedicated school bus driver. The last 15 of those years were spent serving children with special needs in Tolland, the work he considered an honor. Rich later relocated to Florida to be closer to his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Rich hoped to be remembered for the joy he shared and the good times he created and for the laughter that followed him everywhere.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sheri; his children Ryan Matthew, Christian James and his wife Lauren Elizabeth, Addison Terry, Matthew Carter Brazalovich, Jessica Lynn; his cherished grandchildren Jayce Charles, Piper Carolynne, Daniel Bjorn, and Brantley Thomas; his sisters Theresa and husband Clayton Douglas, Staci Lyn Brazalovich, and Shelley and Dani Boutte; nephews Justin and Kyle; and his bonus children Kelly Elizabeth DeVaux, Darren Rynne, Emma Dingle, John Lloyd, Cody Miles, and Sierra Miles along with many beloved cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Rich was predeceased by his son Aaron Michael, his parents Terry and Carolyn DeVaux, and his brother James.
A Celebration of Rich’s life will be held on December 5, 2025, at 1:00pm at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock St., Palm Bay, Florida.
