Born in Cambridge MA, he was pre-deceased by his parents, Raymond and Geneva, and brothers Raymond and James.
Dick proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant on flight status with over 5500 hours aloft in C-119s, C-123s and C-124s, earned the Meritorious Service Medal and was 901 APF Loadmaster Superintendent and Unit First Sergeant.
Dick was a veteran and active participant of two wars and the space race. He was a world traveler and prolific photographer, an adventurer on the land, sea and in the air, a biker, yachtsman, pilot and flight engineer. He was the supreme do it yourselfer: a mechanic, mason, electrician and carpenter. He was always happy to share his knowledge and was a great teacher.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Joseph Jedrey and Shari Schreiber, Rita and Kerwin Mattson, Marie Laurence and Michael Shea, Richard and Doreen Jedrey, Ellen and Dave Goodman, James and Tarena Jedrey, Dayna and Chris Sanders, James and Joy Ferry, and many grandchildren and great -grandchildren.
A memorial service with Military Honors will be held at Cape Canaveral at a future time when gatherings are permitted.
Memorial donations/in lieu of flowers may be made to the Homeland Heroes Foundation or Veterans organization of your choice.
