He was born on August 27, 1934 in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. Rico left the Virgin Islands at the tender age of 16 to make a life for himself in New York City, New York. After 4 years working various jobs, he joined the United States Air Force in 1954 and retired in 1983 after serving 29 honorable years.
The Air Force was Rico’s profession, but his life’s work was serving the Lord and spreading the good news. No matter where he was, he shared the gospel! Family members and strangers alike were treated to a bible lesson each and every time they came in contact with him. We all wish he was here now to shower us in the Word and share his favorite bible verse John 3:16!
The only thing that came close to Rico’s love for the Lord was his love for his family, specifically his wife Beryl Henrietta Hendricks King! They were destined to be together from the time they met as children and finally got married in their late twenties. Their love story is one for the ages. Together they survived several heartaches and experienced many great blessings. When Beryl was stricken with Alzheimer’s disease in 2004, Rico spent the next 18 years lovingly sacrificing himself to ensure her proper care. He did this until he could no longer do so just weeks before his death. Rico loved Beryl with every fiber of his being and it showed! He also loved his 10 children fiercely and did everything in his power to lead them in the way they should go. Saunsirae (Rae) Robin, DiRico (Ricky) Emanuel, Ricardo Alphonso, Rene Renauldo, Andre Damica, Beryl (Princess) Henrietta, Jaini Maria, Jaimie En Rico, Rica Alisia, and Dany El Rico filled his quiver and brought joy to his heart.
Rico went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. He fought the good fight, completed the race, and kept the faith. Hallelujah!
He is survived by his wife Beryl; children Rae, Ricky and Ella, Ricardo, Rene and Sheri, Andre, Princess, Jaini and Jon, Jaimie, Rica and Jose’, and Dany; grandchildren Kim, Andre, Phylip-Michael and Vestria, Markus-Alan and Joann, Johnathan and Jessica, Courtney, Travis, Jaimie Jr and Stacey, Matthew, Joey, Sammy, Solomon, Peter, AlJher and Xana, Alex, Alisia, Alayna, Alcenta, Derrick, Ross and Sabrina, Ricky, Sara, Daryl and Monique, Kandise, Tara, Dominique, Rae, Araceli, Ryan, Jacob, and Caleb; great grandchildren Nathaniel, Aniyah, Alani, Alanna, Andre, Andre II, Ahmir, Alexander, Jackson, Zola, Kaireece, Sevyn, Demi, Nova, Jayce, Josehr, Travis Jr, Roman, Kali, Adrien, Jordyn, Jaimie III, Aljher jr, Mathias, Sari, Gianna, Fox, Monroe, Noelle, Naomi, Jonathan, Grace, Mila, Sunshine, Jacob, James, Caleb, Gabriel and Lilliana; and a host “adopted/step” children, in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
