

Robert Earl Brainard, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy of service, love, and adventure. Born April 10, 1938, in Warren, Ohio, Robert lived a full and honorable life marked by dedication to his country and devotion to his family.
In 1956, at just 18 years old, Robert joined the United States Army, embarking on a 20-year military career that took him around the world. He served tours of duty in Korea, Vietnam, and Germany, earning the respect of his peers and superiors alike. His time in the military shaped his character—resilient, dependable, and quietly courageous.
Following his retirement from the Army, Robert settled in Florida, where he continued his commitment to service and excellence working for Pan Am at Cape Canaveral Air Station during a pivotal time in America’s space program.
In 1992, Robert married the love of his life, Phyllis Baker. Together, they shared many years of happiness, travel, and companionship. Robert had a zest for life—he loved bowling, country music, playing cards with friends and family, and cruising the open seas.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis Brainard; his brother, Stan Brainard; his sister, Shirley Crislip, and her husband Warren; his son, Eugene Brainard; and his daughter, Barbara Jerome, and her husband Paul as well as several nephews and nieces. He was a proud grandfather to Mathew, Daniel, Steven, and Jason, and a cherished great-grandfather to Jea, Kai, Isaiah, and Andrew.
He will be remembered not only for his honorable service and strong work ethic, but for the kindness, and steady presence he brought to those who knew and loved him. Robert’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege to know him.
