Robert is survived by his second wife, Sylvia; children: Catherine Paulette Scortino, Charles Frederick Breininger, and Christine Elizabeth Breininger; step-child, Mary Barrett and sibling, Charles William Breininger. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Colette Breininger.
Robert was born on August 3rd, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles Herbert Breininger and Eloise Elizabeth Lewis. He married Colette Cecil Rondepierre in 1956. He served in the Air Force, stationed out of Déols Air Station. Moving to Phoenix, Arizona, Robert began working for the United States Postal Service as a mailman while attending college. Over three years, the couple welcomed three children into their home. He finished his Masters Degree in Southern California. Afterward, he re-enlisted as a commissioned officer and served in both Vietnam and Korea. He was a two-time Purple Heart recipient.
Robert was accomplished at flying and often flew his Piper Cub until he landed in a field with an empty tank, at which time he was guided to shooting, reading, building R/C aircrafts, and listening to classical music. He was a lover of history, a traveller, a beer lover, a linguist, an accomplished marksman, and a great storyteller. He was an active and dedicated member of the American Legion, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Military Officers Association.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11am on May 8th, 2019 at Fountainhead Funeral Home with an informal reception to follow at Intracoastal Brewing Company. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Robert's life.
