

Robert H. Whitworth SR., of Palm Bay, Florida, passed away on 2/17/2015, at the age of 82. He was born in Meriden, CT to the loving parents of Henry and Eva Whitworth. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Margaret, a sibling sister June, his sons Robert Jr of Virginia and Brian of Miami, a grandson Dwayne, and 2 great granddaughters Chloe and Clarissa. Robert was a child of the great depression, entered the U.S. Air Force in the early 1950’s and served honorably during the Korean War, being wounded during a bombing attack upon his base. As a member of the famed Head Hunters Squadron, he served as a jet engine mechanic, which lead him to his civilian career with United Technologies. He became an accomplished Electronics Technician, completely through self-instruction and reading, which furthered his career to a senior position within the Engineering departments of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He was also an accomplished HAM radio operator, working with amateur radio groups in Connecticut and New England, which earned him a masters license with the call sign of W1HB. A devoted father, he passed along a rich tradition of service to the public and a commitment to provide for his family, which his children carry on today in his memory, and what he took the greatest pride in every day.
