Roger Lee Schmidtke, 81, of Palm Bay died Monday (9/9) in the Pam Bay Hospital. A native of Neenah, Wisconsin he came to the Palm Bay area in 1987 from Chetek, Wisconsin. He had retired from the US Air Force where he served as a flight engineer. During his time in the Air Force he served in Korea and Viet Nam and was awarded several commendations. After moving to Palm Bay he worked for several years as a bus driver for Brevard County School System. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church here in Palm Bay. He was also a member of the Non-Commissioned Officers Association.
Survivors include his wife: Helen; two step-sons: Gary A. Johnson of Pyatt, Arkansas, Roy D. Johnson of Chetek, Wisconsin; one step-daughter: Mary E. Alvord of Sheldon, Wisconsin.
Following cremation, Roger will be returned to Chetek, Wisconsin and interred.
