Celebrating the life of Rolf Horst Claas (07-07-1925 – 03-21-2014) Rolf Horst Claas departed this life for eternal rest on Friday March 21, 2014. Rolf was born in Wetzlar, Germany to the parents of Friedel and Else Claas. He moved to the United States in 1962 after serving in the German Army during World War II and working at the Leitz factory in Wetzlar.
In Florida, Rolf worked mostly for Space Systems and then Harris, from which he retired. He enjoyed flying model planes, gliders, photography, wood working and working in the yard.
He leaves to mourn his three daughters Roswitha Zoromsky (Howard), Petra Morey (Norm) and Diana Claas, as well as his son, Manfred Claas; two sisters Rose-Marie and Eleanore, both of Germany; three grandchildren Jennifer, Justin, and Sara; two great grandchildren Jayden, Jason. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Heinz-Norbert.
Rolf was also preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years and the love of his life, Irmgard Claas. Memorial services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer 12 East Avenue A. Melbourne, Florida on Saturday March 29th at 1:00 pm. Fountainhead Funeral Home is in charge of services.
