

Ruben Rodriguez, of Palm Bay, Florida, passed away on March 6, 2026 at age 93. Born June 15, 1932, in Lajas, Puerto Rico, Ruben was the son of Guillermo Rodriguez and Candelaria Ramirez. He was a high school graduate and also attended college.
A brave and cherished man, Ruben devoted many years to exemplary military service and achievement. He joined the U.S. Army at age 17 building a distinguished career as a soldier, serving in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Rising to the rank of Master Sergeant First Class, he served as a non-commissioned officer in leadership roles and known for a disciplined, dependable commitment to those he led and served beside. His service included overseas duty and work in infantry, including assignment to a unit recognized for high-performing combat.
Ruben’s distinguished record reflected both skill and courage. He trained in survival and escape, military justice, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological training (CBR), and served as an Air Defense Artillery Operator and Intelligence Analyst. He earned the Combat Infantry Badge and received the Bronze Star Medal for heroism in the military, along with the Army Commendation Medal and the National Defense Medal—honors that spoke to a life marked by patriotic dedication, respected service, and proud commitment. He had been in combat, and carried the weight of those experiences with quiet resolve and steadfast loyalty.
Ruben was a widower and preceded in death by his wife, Asia I. Rodriguez and also preceded in death by his daughter, Lydny Asia. Guerra. Ruben is lovingly survived by his three brothers, Benjamin, Guillermo and Ricardo and two sisters- Amelia and Raquel. He is survived by beautiful and talented nieces and one nephew. They will treasure the memories, wisdom and leadership Ruben taught them and their parents.
In retirement, Ruben found peace in Florida. Before settling there, he lived in Las Vegas, Nevada until 2000. He valued a simple life and everyday pleasures that made it meaningful—fishing, cooking, and good conversation. He especially enjoyed spending time with family, calling to check in on relatives, and staying connected. Known for telling stories to those around him, he was engaging and friendly, and his family-centered nature made others feel remembered and cared for.
Ruben will be remembered as caring, brave, friendly, patriotic, dedicated, proud, committed, dependable, respected, disciplined, engaging, loyal, and deeply devoted to family. His legacy lives on in the love he gave, the service he rendered, and the steady example of a life lived with honor.
