Saundra Irene Weissman, 83, of Satellite Beach, FL died Sunday (6/9) in a local nursing home. A native of Bronx, New York, she came to the Satellite Beach area in 1985 from Rockland County, New York. She was a member of Temple Beth Sholom here in Melbourne, Florida and had been a founding member of Temple Beth Sholom in New City, New York. She also was a member of the Temple Beth Sholom Sisterhood, The Red Hat Society of Glenbrooke, and the Rockland County NY Republican Party. She loved being involved in Republican party politics and ran for Town council in 1979. Other hobbies and loves included cooking and entertaining, shopping, playing maj jong and knitting.
Survivors include her daughters: Ilene Herr of Satellite Beach, Holly (Jordan) Levy of Buffalo, NY; brothers: Lawrence (Carole) Barton of Hewlett, NY; grandchildren: Jason Herr, Joshua (Natalie) Herr, Adrian Levy, Jacob Levy.
A memorial service will be Tuesday (6/11) at 11:00 AM in the Temple Beth Sholom, Melbourne. The family suggests contributions to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Elm and Carlton, Buffalo NY 14263 in Sandy’s memory.
