Sonia Momperousse, 78, died Saturday December 31, 2011 at Palm Bay Hospital. She was born in Cuba and was raised in Caye, Haiti. She came to Palm Bay in 1995 from Queens, NY. In Haiti, Sonia worked was a dressmaker, in New York she worked at Maimonides Hospital and then at Carnegie Gardens Nursing Home in Palm Bay. She was a member of The Mission Church in Palm Bay.
Sonia is survived by her long time significant other Guy Pouloute, her son Jean Momperousse, her daughters Marie Momperousse and Myrna Pouloute, her brothers Gerard Similien and Wilson Dorvil, and her sister Manite Dorvil. She is also survived by her grandchildren Manisha Gaston, Tatianah Gaston, Charleen, Tamika, Woody, Mark & Craig Momperousse, Brandon Silaire, Stefan Belizaire, her nieces and nephews, Monique Dorvil, Gina Dorvil, William Dorvil, several great grandchildren and a large extended family.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2012 at Fountainhead Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at The Mission Church on Emerson Drive in Palm Bay.
