Sophelia Comrie, 90, of Palm Bay died Saturday (3/29) at her home. A native of Jamaica, she first moved to England and left England in 1978 and moved to New York, she came to the Palm Bay area from New York in 1995. She had been a CNA and was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Palm Bay. Sophelia was always thinking of others and spent time each day visiting those who were shut in and at retirement homes through the area. She also was family oriented raising not only her own children but also other family members. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and knitting, as well as singing and taking a little time for herself to catch up on her soap operas on TV.
Survivors include her husband: Cedric; daughter: Dawn of Palm Bay; son: Stanley Whyte of London, England; step daughter: Valerie Brown of England; adopted daughter Claire Grant; two brothers: Isiah Bond of England, Samuel Reid of New York; four grandchildren: Roy Whyte, Jenine Brown, Nathaniel Brown and Daniel Brown; and one great-grandchild: Oliver Dooley,many adopted grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
