William J. Hall, 95, of Melbourne, Florida passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 11, 2013. A native of Naugatuck, CT, He spent his formative years in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Florida in 1990 from Selden, New York on his and his wife’s 50th wedding anniversary.
William worked for the US Postal service as a mail clerk for 30 years until reaching retirement, when he took a position in the Federal Bank in Suffolk County as a mail clerk. William served in WWII in the US Navy, trained in Mine & Warfare to load bombs. From 1943-1945 he was on the USS Tripoli CVE 64 aircraft carrier, in both the Atlantic and Pacific. He was proud of crossing the equator to become a polliwog.
He will be remembered for being “the last of the gentleman,” and being a perfect, gentle, father. William loved baseball and enjoyed attending minor league games, old movies, and musicals.
William was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Olga Hall.
He is survived by his two daughters: Diane(Don) Hall-Moffatt of Apple Valley, CA, June(Frank) Cuccia of Palm Bay, FL; one brother, Howard Hall; 4 grandchildren Kathryn Rivera and Tina Williams of Palm Bay, FL and David Palmieri and Daniella Palmieri Pena of California; and 7 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Fountainhead Funeral Home Monday June 17, 2013 from 6-8PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church Tuesday June 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at Fountainhead Memorial Park.
