WILLIAM (Willie) Franklin Jenkins Jr.

Celebrating the life of William (Willie) Franklin Jenkins Jr. (March 20, 1929-August 22, 2015) William was born in Norfolk, VA; his parents were Margaret and William F. Jenkins Sr. William graduated from Maury. High School and attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. William was an Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict where he was in the Army Security Agency. William was a member of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team in NY. William married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Wearren, on February 15, 1958. William retired from Verizon in Norfolk, VA where he was a Building and Industry Consultant for 35 years. William was active in many organizations throughout his life. His positions included: Scoutmaster in Boy Scouts, PTA president for his children's school, Lion's Club where he held local and regional offices. William received the Melvin Jones Award-the highest form of recognition a Lion can receive for their charitable work. Most recently, William was a 4th degree Knight in Our Lady of Grace K of C.

William's legacy is celebrated by survivors: wife, Shirley; son, Thomas Wm. Jenkins (Debra) of Orlando, FL; daughters, Cheryl J. Crise (Kenneth) of Enid, OK; Denise F. Lavoie (Michael) of Enid, OK; grandchildren, Shelly Smith, Jessica Crise, Tim Lavoie, Daniel Crise, Eric Lavoie, Jeremy Crise, and Devyn Lavoie; great-grandchildren, Tre and Andre Bornhausen; sister, Shirley Heintzelman; brother, Donald Dunbar, both of Maryland; and beloved pets, Sophie and Toby. William was predeceased by a daughter, Gail Ann Jenkins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at l0:00am at Our Lady of Grace Church, 300 Malabar Rd. Palm Bay, FL 32907. Funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00am, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Citizens with Disabilities Fund care of Our Lady of Grace Knights of Columbus- Council #13243. Designation/Memo: Tootsie Roll. Willie's favorite fundraiser.
