Born in Flint, MI, Ed and his sister Kathleen were moved to Lansing and adopted by their maternal grandparents, Harriett and Frank L. Finch. Ed graduated from Lansing Sexton High in 1945 then went into the U.S. Army, serving in the Philippines in the closing months of World War II. After the war he enrolled at Michigan State College and graduated in 1951. He married the love of his life, Joan M. Gregory, on March 24, 1951. In 1953, he joined Oldsmobile Division of General Motors as an hourly employee. Ed joined the Personnel Department, serving 17 years on the Labor Relations staff, then was promoted to the Director of Personnel Services. He was a member of the Olds Quarter Century Club and Outdoor Club. He served six years on the Capitol Area United Way Board of Directors and was elected Board President in 1979. In 1983 Ed retired from Olds and subsequently moved to Palm Harbor FL with Joan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Susan Lynn. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, his son Gregory (Therese) of Waterford CT and grandson Andrew, and his sister Kathleen Spencer of Aurora, CO. Private services were held in FL and internment will be at Deepdale Cemetery in Lansing. Ed left us with many happy memories and he will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Ed's memory to the American Lung Association.
