Robert Edwin Lee, 93, passed away May 5, 2019, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born and raised in Mayland, Tennessee. Upon graduating from high school, Robert enlisted in the Navy and served as a radioman 3rd class in the South Pacific during WWII. After the war, he enrolled in Vanderbilt University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He met his first wife, Aida, mother of his seven children, while at Vanderbilt. He graduated with a degree in Psychology and then attended law school. He graduated from Southern Law School, now part of the University of Memphis, and practiced law for many years. He became an international business developer living in Egypt and Greece before returning to the U.S. to work in real estate law/international business development. Robert was a 3rd dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do, an avid bird watcher and voracious reader. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lester Lee and Lela Mae Sapp, and sister Sue Sarrell. Robert is survived by his sister Elsie Siapno of Boulder, CO; children Joseph F. Lee of Denver, CO; Marcia Annette Lee (John Miller, dec.), of Phoenixville, PA; Michele L. Lee de Leon of Merida, Venezuela; A. Isabel Lee (David P. Harris) of Juneau, AK; Margaret Lee Denny (Darrel Denny) of Oklahoma City, OK; Helen D. Lee (Michael Lannan) of Mint Hill, NC; Patricia M. Lee (Alex Gimon) of St. Petersburg, FL; many nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Robert will be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held on May 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in St. Petersburg, FL. (Please email for details: [email protected])
