Amritlal K Shah
September 18, 1924 – May 21, 2019
Amritlal Kesharichand Shah was born in the village of Ambheti in Gujarat, India on September 18, 1924. After losing his dad at an early age, he was the father figure to his three younger siblings while growing up in the village of Sarbohon. At the age of 22, he married Sushilaben. About 12 years later, he moved from Sarbohn to Surat.
In Surat, he worked as the chief accountant for Zenith Silk Mills. He was well-respected in his community and developed a reputation for being an excellent mediator. People would come to him to resolve a variety conflicts and disputes. In 1981, after his retirement, he moved to the United States.
His favorite pastimes were taking walks, gardening, making new friends, and playing with his grandchildren. He was a devout Jain and enjoyed worshipping everyday. He and Sushilaben lived together and remained happily married for 73 years until his sad departure from this world on May 21, 2019 at the age of 94.
He is survived by his wife Sushilaben, his son Nitin and daughter-in-law Meena, daughter Daksha and son-in-law Sudhir, three granddaughters, Neha, Nisha, and Mauli and two great granddaughters, Avni and Arya.
