Our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother was born on May 18, 1937 in the little town of Parral, Ohio, just outside of Dover. She was born to William and Helen Ellsworth. She had three older sisters, June, Ruth, and Jane, and one younger brother, John. At the age of five, her parents divorced, and the rest of her childhood she was raised by her loving mom. Her family did not have a lot of money, but they were rich in love for one another.
As a child, Barb attended Wooster Highway Elementary/Jr. High School where she had many friends, and she served as a cheerleader for the football team. She went on to Dover High School where she took many business courses and graduated in 1955.
At the age of sixteen, she was babysitting a set of twins for Herb and Mildred Welsch. That summer they asked Barb if she would go to Canada with them to help watch the twins, and she said yes. Little did she know that she would be introduced to the love of her life, Mildred's younger brother, Walter Schilling. Walter went by the name "Dutch," and after he and Barb met they communicated by letter for two years, since he was enlisted in the Air Force and stationed in Roswell, New Mexico. Dutch proposed to Barb, and they were married on June 15,1955 after she graduated from Dover High School.
Barb and Dutch started their life together in Roswell, New Mexico where their first two children were born, Ronald Richard in 1956 and Jeri Lynn in 1958. In 1959, Dutch received orders to transfer to Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda. In March of 1962, their third child was born, Patricia Jo.
From Bermuda, Barb and Dutch were stationed in Riverside, CA, Las Vegas, NV, Edwards Air Force Base, CA, and then they finally retired in Lancaster, CA.
Barb worked full time in the Muroc school district as a secretary for close to 30 years. She loved working with the staff and students and made many friends along the way.
Even though Bab worked full time, she was a full time wife and mother to her family. She was involved in every aspect of their lives, and she made sure they knew just how much she loved them.
After retiring, Barb and Dutch traveled in their motorhome to almost all of the fifty states, and they also enjoyed several cruises together. But the thing Barb loved the most was being involved with her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She loved cooking, family gatherings, Amish romance novels, and playing bingo with all her friends.
Barb is survived by her children, Ron, Jeri, Jodi, their spouses, twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Her selfless love and sacrifice to her family and friends will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful for the years we had with her, and she will be greatly missed. We love you Barb, and our comfort is knowing that we will see you again.
