

Cleveland David Holbert Jr. was born on August 9, 1955 In Los Angeles, CA to Winnie Mae Bordelon (Louisiana), and Cleveland David Holbert, Sr. (Mississippi). He and his siblings were raised by their mother, and was known as "Sonny" to his family and friends. Cleveland attended public schools, was a straight "A" student, and graduated from Alain Leroy Locke High School in 1973. Shortly after graduation, he meet Sharon Robinson, who relocated from New York to California, and they married on October 18, 1975. Cleveland joined the Air Force on November 28, 1975, where he served 4 years as a Fire Protection Specialist, earned the rank of SGT, and was honorably discharged on November 27, 1979. On August 10, 1980, Cleveland and Sharon welcomed their daughter Eboni into the world. In the early 1980's, Cleveland worked both as a firefighter and 911 Operator for the City of Los Angeles. In 1986, his love for space, science and engineering led him to work for Rockwell International, which later became Boeing. Cleveland enjoyed a successful 23-year career as a Structural Mechanic, and was especially proud to be instrumental in building the Space Shuttle Endeavor, in addition to his work on numerous military projects. In 2000, Cleveland and Sharon divorced, then later became very dear friends until his passing. In 2010, health issues led to Cleveland's early retirement from Boeing. On January 23, 2019, he passed away at Northridge Hospital, after suffering a massive stroke. Cleveland enjoyed spending time with his family, the beach, traveling, drives along the coast, jazz, going to the movies, Raiders football and photography. He loved taking pictures of family, friends, and beautiful scenery, breathtaking sunsets, and loved the candidness of it all. He was also a mentor, and always encouraged people to strive for excellence, to never give up, and to always be the best version of themselves, no matter what life may bring. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Cleveland is preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna. He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories: A loving daughter. Eboni (Holbert) Blood and son-in-law Joshua. Four grandsons - Trace, Rodger, Tesla and Jerry. Brothers and sisters - Moses Burke, Brad Burke, Bobby Holbert, Lola Holbert, Mark Cook, Brenda Cook, Vicky Cook, and Tracy Cook. Many nieces, nephews, and a host of wonderful friends.
