

Freddie Lee Watley, born on October 24, 1952, in Senatobia, Mississippi, passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 73. Freddie was the beloved son of Mary Lee Watley and Elihue Watley. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1973 and spent his entire life living and working in Los Angeles County, California.
In 2000, Freddie married Rosalie Johnson Watley, who preceded him in death. Together, they lovingly adopted eight of her grandchildren, raising them as their own. Freddie leaves behind his daughter, Tamela Watley. He was a devoted father, brother, uncle, husband, and friend, whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around him.
Freddie is survived by his sister Betsy Shelley from Waukegan, Illinois; sister Betty Norton and brother-in-law William Norton of Rialto, California; sister Daisy McDonald of Albemarle, North Carolina; niece Patricia Mack, and nephew Ricky Johnson, with whom Freddie had resided since 2018 in Lancaster, California; as well as Pamela Jones of Anaheim, California; Sherron Markham and Michael Warren Jr. of Inglewood, California; Latonya Thompson of California; and Latonya, Jermaine, Tim, Tony, and Marcus Marshall. His brother-in-law, James Rosnoe of Bullhead City, Arizona, also survives him. He leaves behind his dear aunt, Rebbie Hankins, and a host of loving family and friends, including the Brown family, who faithfully supported the Watley family and always offered a shoulder to lean on.
Freddie was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Rosnoe, of Bullhead City, Arizona; his sister Daisy McDonald’s husband, William McDonald of Albemarle, North Carolina; and Albert Lawson from Palmdale, California.
Freddie's ashes will be lovingly kept by his niece, Patricia A. Mack.
Visitation will be held at Joshua Mortuary Palmdale, located at 3150 E Palmdale Blvd., Palmdale, CA 93550, on March 2, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same venue on March 3, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Freddie was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. While our hearts grieve his passing, we find peace in knowing it was his time to go. Freddie did not leave us—he went home to rest in the loving arms of his Heavenly Father, free from pain, where we all hope to one day be.
