James "Jim" Phillip Hall, age 79, of Palmdale, California, a Navy veteran, retired retail service employee, beloved husband and father, and a courageous man—who knew himself and made an impression on everyone who met him passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023, with family at his side.
Jim was born in New Eagle, Pennsylvania. He was a kind and selfless individual with a good sense of humor. Jim was an active member of his high school's ROTC and upon graduation he enlisted and served his country from 1965 to 1966 in the US Navy on the USS Enterprise.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Jim returned to Pennsylvania and worked in the steel mills. In 1980, he relocated his family to the Antelope Valley and began working at the Lancaster Turkey Farms. However, Jim found his true calling in retail and spent 17 years as the garden shop manager at K-Mart in Lancaster. He later joined Wal-Mart in Palmdale, where he finished his career working in the garden shop. Jim was known for his dedication to customer service and going the extra mile by keeping notes to personally inform customers when items were back in stock.
Outside of work, Jim had a passion for reading and would start each day with the Antelope Valley Press. He was also an avid sports fan, with the Golden State Warriors and Pittsburgh Steelers being his favorite teams. Jim enjoyed the friendly rivalry these teams created with his family and friends. Jim was the first to get in the car when heading to Las Vegas, Disneyland, or the store!
Jim is survived by Eileen, his beloved wife of 27 years, and his children Nicole (Joe) Blanton, Charles (Wanda) Hall, Michael (Catina) Hall, and Jamie (John) Cravens. He was a loving grandfather to Christian, Darrik, Kellieahna, Devon, Aubrey, and Jacob. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Geri Hall and and granddaughter Jayra Blanton.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, selflessness, and humor will forever be cherished.
Friends and family are invited to join us on October 14,2023 at 11 am for a memorial service at Joshua Mortuary in Palmdale, California. We look forward to celebrating Jim's life.
