John was born on April 24th, 1929 in Beaumont, CA. He was the fifth of eight children born to Charles and Barbara Barrett. He served his nation in the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He met his wife, Anna Mae, at Harry’s Roller Rink in San Bernardino in 1954 and they were married in Redlands, CA in 1956. They were blessed with four children. They moved to Canyon Country in 1962 when he started teaching with the Los Angeles City School District at Monroe High School. He taught auto mechanics for 29 years. He was an avid fisherman, and also enjoyed gardening.
John is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Anna Mae, his children Debbie (Steve) Reid, Jeff (Lynn) Barrett, Janice (John) Skikas and Dennis (Maria) Barrett; grandchildren Jennifer (Cliff) Schomburg, Ryan Smith, Jon (Katie) Barrett, Kelsey Barrett, Hannah Skikas, Cameron (Carrie) Marks and Andrew (Alisha) Marks; great grandchildren Laney, Sara, Annie, Lydia, Brooks and Austin.
He is also survived by siblings Charles (Christine) Barrett and Barbara Gordon, and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Charles, Jim, Fred, Wade and Margaret.
