OBITUARY

Robert Eugene Grabhorn

January 29, 1944 – April 4, 2023
IN THE CARE OF

Joshua Mortuary Palmdale

Robert “Bob” Eugene Grabhorn (79), of Palmdale, California, passed away at home on April 4, 2023. He is survived by his daughters Sandra Grabhorn (husband Gary Brainin) and Deborah Boschini (husband Tony), and grandchildren Cruz, Isaac, Isabella, and Sophia Boschini. He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford Grabhorn and Dorothy Sharp (Douglas), and sister Donna Olsen (Grabhorn).

Bob was born on January 29, 1944 in Marysville, Kansas. After moving to California with his family as a child, Bob graduated from Victor Valley H.S. in 1960.

After 4 years active service in the Air Force, he started a career in the aerospace industry, and completed an AS in Science (Cum Laude) in 1975 at Los Angeles Valley College. He also spent an additional 4 years in the Air Force on Active Reserve duty. For most of his career, he worked as a Flight Mechanic for Lockheed Martin in Burbank and Palmdale, retiring in 2003 after 33 years of service. He took the Skunk Works mission and his security clearance seriously, so while his daughters knew that he worked on the SR-71 Blackbird and the F-117 Stealth Fighter, they are pretty fuzzy on the details. They do know that he was very proud of his work, and they are, too.

Bob was an accomplished bowler, a recreational golfer, and an all-around sports TV enthusiast. He was a quiet, no-frills guy who enjoyed keeping things running smoothly and fixing them when they broke. In keeping with his wishes, no memorial services will be held.
