Ruby Sampson was born on March 15, 1959 to Polly Carr and Cleveland Sampson, in Jackson Mississippi. She was the second child born to her mother out the five. She had her older sister Jean and younger siblings, Doug, Ella, and Faye. At one years old her mom brought her and her sister Jean to New Orleans where she was raised. She became a big sister, made many friends, got her first job and started a family in New Orleans; with her partner Darrell Netters and her stepson Joe and soon her son Jamond. After the birth of her son Rolando, She decided that California is where she wanted to live and raise her family. In fall of 1985 she took her younger children: Jamond and Rolando and moved to Southern California, her partner Darrell Netters soon followed. Despite moving to California she still kept in touch with her family and friends in New Orleans. In California she went on to raise and expand family, having her last child Lacee in 1991 and becoming a grandmother decades later to five grandchildren. She juggled being an accountant. mother and partner during her first years in California. In 1998 she suffered a stroke, barring her from working a traditional office job but that did not stop her from being a mom, sister, friend, niece, daughter, cousin and grandmother. She never stopped caring for the people she loved and for people she never would meet. Her outgoing personality meant she could make friends anywhere and her determination meant she was not going to let much stop her from making her thoughts into reality. Her laugh and smile were rays of sunshine. She leaves behind her stepson Joe, her sons Jamond and Rolando, her daughter Lacee as well as her grandchildren, Hezekiah, Jazzmyne, Taya, Knajamal and Jayleh.
